Capalo AI to Optimize and Trade Lithuania’s Largest Hybrid Solar and Storage Parks for Nordic Solar

Helsinki, 22.12.2025 – Capalo AI, a sustainable technology company specializing in AI-driven optimization, trading, and aggregation services for energy storage, has signed an agreement with Nordic Solar, a leading Danish independent power producer, to optimize and trade two large-scale hybrid solar and battery energy storage parks in Lithuania.

The agreement covers the Švenčionys and Molėtai hybrid parks. The Švenčionys site combines a 45MW / 90MWh battery energy storage system with a 70MWp solar PV plant, while the Molėtai site pairs a 20MW / 40MWh BESS with a 90MWp solar PV installation. The two parks are among the largest operational solar parks in Lithuania, ranking first and third by capacity.

The solar PV assets will be traded by Capalo AI already the beginning of 2026. The battery energy storage systems are scheduled to be commissioned in Q3 2026, after which the hybrid parks will participate across all Lithuanian balancing and wholesale markets through Capalo AI’s fully automated, AI-driven optimization platform.

Capalo AI will provide end-to-end optimization services for the hybrid assets, including route-to-market access, balance responsible party (BRP), balance service provider (BSP) services, and coordinated solar + BESS trading behind one point of interconnection (POI). By optimizing generation and storage together, Capalo AI enables the assets to respond dynamically to market signals, maximize lifetime value, and deliver critical flexibility to the Lithuanian power system.

The partnership supports Nordic Solar’s continued expansion in the Baltics and aligns with Lithuania’s ambition to strengthen energy independence and increase the share of domestically produced renewable electricity. Nordic Solar has a rapidly expanding European portfolio, with over 2.4 GWp of solar PV and more than 1 GW of battery energy storage capacity in development, alongside hundreds of megawatts already in construction and operation.

“Hybrid parks will be a cornerstone of Europe’s future energy system. Partnering with Capalo AI ensures that our Lithuanian parks are optimized intelligently across all markets, unlocking flexibility, strengthening grid stability, and delivering strong long-term value,” said Tim Gadatsch, Chief Investment Officer at Nordic Solar.

“The Molėtai and Švenčionys projects set a new benchmark for hybrid renewable assets in the Baltics. With our hybrid multimarket optimization, we enable coordinated solar and storage optimization that supports Lithuania’s energy transition while maximizing value across wholesale and balancing markets,” said Henri Taskinen, CEO of Capalo AI.
